2016 Primaries: It’s Almost Over

Except for the District of Columbia caucus on June 14, voters in the last five states went to the polls this morning. It’s been over for the Republicans for awhile. It was essentially was over yesterday for the Democrats when Hillary Clinton, after winning 36 delegates in the Puerto Rico primary, gained enough elected and super delegates that most major news organizations are calling her the presumptive nominee. However, her opponent Bernie Sanders has said he will take this fight to the convention.

But, I digress. California, Montana New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota have primaries for both parties and North Dakota has a caucus for the Democrats. The polls in New Jersey close at 8 PM ET and 11 PM ET in California, so this shouldn’t be a really late night. Except for the usual claims of the unfairness of the process, which it is, this part pf the party is over and and it’s on to the main event.

I’ll post results as they are announced.

Up Date 8:50 PM ET: The polls have closed in New Jersey: Donald trump has been declared the projected winner. With just 2% of the vote reported, Drumpf has 83% of the vote; Gov. John Kasich (OH) has 10%.
