2016 Primaries and One Caucus: March 15 – Another “Super” Tuesday

“A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.” Brutus to Caesar, Julius Caesar Act 1, scene 2, 15–19

The super of the “Super Tuesday”s is here with hundreds of delegates for Democrats and Republicans up for grabs in five states. There is one caucus for the GOP in The Northern Mariana Islands that held their votes while it was still yesterday here. It’s a winner take all, as are most GOP primaries, giving all 9 delegates to “Drumpf.”

This is do or die for two of the Republican candidates. If Donald “Drumpf” Trump wins in Florida and Ohio both Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Ohio Governor John Kasich can kiss their campaigns good-by, leaving Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to duke it out with the vulgar yapping yam.

For the Democratic candidates it’s not quite as clear

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can put some distance between herself and rival Bernie Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, in Tuesday’s voting.

Opinion polls gave her a big lead in Florida and North Carolina, but showed Sanders gaining ground in Ohio, Illinois and Missouri, a possibly worrisome sign for Clinton after Sanders’ surprise victory in Michigan a week ago.

Here is what’s at stake: For the Republicans in Florida – 99 delegates; Illinois – 69; Missouri- 52; North Carolina – 72; Ohio – 66.

For the Democrats: Florida – 246; Illinois – 182; Missouri -84; North Carolina – 121; Ohio – 180.

The results will be posted in comments as they are announced.
