Late Night Hosts Critique The Second Debate

Sunday night’s town hall debate between the presidential candidates got really ugly. It started before the debate with Republican nominee Donald Trump inviting three women who had sexual relations with former President Bill Clinton when he was in office in Arkansas and a fourth, a rape victim

Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver may have missed the debate Sunday night but he didn’t miss that tape.

Oliver concluded by reiterating what Clinton argued in the debate: that the contents of the video are “entirely in character” for Trump. Oliver warned that Trump isn’t going anywhere, even as GOP members flee his ticket.

“This is happening,” Oliver said. “And, in a way, perhaps we have been always heading towards this historic moment. The first female presidential nominee versus the human embodiment of every backwards, condescending, Mad Men-esque boys’ club attitude that has ever existed, rolled into one giant, salivating dick-size-referencing, pussy-grabbing warthog in a red power tie.

“I’ll put it this way: if American democracy is a computer game, and Hillary is completing women’s 100-year quest to get to the Oval Office, it kind of makes sense that this would be the final boss.”

On Monday night, Trevor Noah, host of “The Daily Show.” started off the night with a brutal skewering.

Noah pulled no punches, asking blunt rhetorical questions like, “What kind of person grabs the pussy? That doesn’t sound pleasurable for either party involved.”

He also speculated, “Maybe it’s a tiny hands thing. … It’s like a baby holding a grapefruit.”

Noah then pointed out a problem with much of the reaction to the story.

“It feels like more people are focused on, ‘He said pussy!’” Noah said. “It’s not about that. It’s about him saying he forces himself on women.”

In an online video, “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert weighed in from home with an undecided cat, Mister Whisker Pants.

NBC “Late Night” host Seth Meyer slammed Donald as the “pervert on a bus” and blasted his “inner dictator.”

Noting Trump’s praise of Russian strongman Vladimir Putin and late dictator Saddam Hussein, Meyers quipped, “Trump finally revealed his inner dictator. Which probably shouldn’t come as a surprise given that he’s repeatedly praised other dictators who jail political opponents.”

  1. Trevor is getting better at the righteous outrage recently. But somehow it doesn’t seem genuine. It’s obvious he’d rather be doing funny voices.
