Sylvester Stallone is notorious for how bad he is and most of it is deserved (Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot). Not so much for the Rocky thing which, while it quickly degenerated into a tired cash cow of meaningless sequels, had at it’s heart a story of personal perseverance in the face of inevitable defeat.
As the franchise has aged and Stallone has become less credible as an action/adventure hero, the stories have actually improved and the premise of Creed has promise with Stallone taking the role once occupied by Burgess Meredith as mentor. I’m not saying it’s good and I’ll certainly wait until it comes out on cable, but it might be.
Stephen’s other guests tonight are Ted Koppel (a new book with no references for a not so wacky conspiracy theory) and My Morning Jacket
Stephen’s guests this week-
- Tuesday 11/24: Spike Lee, Carly Simon, and Justin Bieber
- Wednesday 11/25: Gloria Estefan, Eric Greitens, Jake Wood, and Daniel Boulud
