NCAA Women’s Tournament 2016: National Championship Semi-Finals (Round of 4)

U – Conn Husky, symbol of might to the foe.
Fight, fight Connecticut, It’s vict’ry, Let’s go.

Connecticut U – Conn Husky,
vict’ry again for the White and Blue

So go – go – go Connecticut, Connecticut U.
C – O – N – N – E – C – T – I – C – U – T
Connecticut, Connecticut Husky, Connecticut Husky
Connecticut C – O – N – N – U! Fight!

I would willingly forego my Husky Husky match-up to see Syracuse advance to the Finals. Not that they’re going to beat UConn any more than any other team would, but because watching the Men lose last night was positively painful.

On the UConn side of things they have a chance to go 40 – 0 and Freshman to Senior National Champions, something that’s never, ever been done before Men or Women.

It’s hard to see why they would lose. Baylor didn’t look that tough and Oregon State was only able to squeek out a 3 point win. On the other hand Syracuse was kind of dominant in their 8 point upset victory over #1 Seeded South Carolina (yeah, Tennessee, but Tennessee was not that good and only a #7 Seed). They’ll be playing Washington who I’ll admit punched above their weight against Stanford, a #4 just like Syracuse, and they did it by 9. They also beat a #3 Seed (Kentucky) by 13 and a #2 Seed (Maryland) by 9. That’s pretty impressive, but is it impressive enough?

Tonight’s games select the teams that will play in the National Championship on April 5th (Tuesday).
