In Memoriam: Prince (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016)

Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016), known by his stage name Prince, died at his Paisley Park studio in Minnesota, the state where he was born and raised. He was well known for his innovation and eclectic, flamboyant stage presence and wrote hundreds of songs for himself and other artists. He has won seven Grammy’s, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. He ws inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and is 27th by Rolling Stone on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

His death was announced by his publicist who said there were no further details about the death at this time. Prince had been treated for the flu in Illinois last week after his pane made an emergency landing and he had cancelled tow shows in Atlanta.
