I know there are those who think I’m in the bag for Lewis Hamilton.
First of all I don’t really give a damn about motor sports or sports in general for that matter except for Baseball, Curling, and Sailing. I used to swim a little (10 miles a day a little which is a long time to eat people’s feet). I certainly am uninterested in Formula One except as a metaphor of excess, greed, and hypocrisy. I hate it somewhat less than Turn Left Bumper Cars which as far as I’m concerned is a mere perversion of my favorite type of racing, Figure Eight School Busses (yes it’s a real thing and the flaw is they don’t have a full load of kids, where’s the sport in that?).
Hamilton is an overpriced pampered dandy who is not only not as good as he thinks he is but no better than most and owes everything to the fact he’s been lucky enough to have great rides (yes, I know I hated on Alonso but it was really displaced Scuderia Marlboro hatred, the man can make a brick look racy and I still hate the Scuderia and their suck up sycophants in the commentariat).
That said- Rosberg shot first.
The fact that Greedo came back after that and blasted Solo into a wingless pile of ash when he went to shoot a second time is just bonus. It is Lucas level abomination for Mercedes to now issue team orders to let the Wookie win.
Of course who knows? They deny it of course. Rosberg is in front by a slim 11 points in the Driver’s Championship, Mercedes by a devastating 102 in the Constructors’ (they could just park their cars for the next 2 races and still lead) so perhaps it is all for show, our protagonists in this conflict start paired on the grid and barring accidents or breakdowns are likely to finish the same way.
On offer for the notorious mudpit that is Silverstone are Hard, Medium, and Soft. Track limits (driving outside the lines) will be strictly enforced. Since Silverstone is one of the primary test tracks (many teams’ headquarters are located within miles) it’s really well known by the drivers and one of the quickest tracks in the season.
