T-Day Throwball 2015: Panthers @ ‘Boys

You know, 3 years out of 4 I would have been right.

So now the ‘Boys and it’s always a pleasure to root against them because they have the most obnoxious fans in Throwball and that’s saying quite a lot in a sport based on violence and concussions that actively encourages parking lot drinking binges. By comparison the Panthers are almost entirely unobjectionable except for the fact they play in North Carolina.

Considering the fact that the Panthers are protecting an undefeated season I’d expect them to dominate the ‘Boys but given my sterling record for prognostication I entirely understand if you phone your bookie to change your bet.

I’ll probably be cooking or eating. I promised this year I’d do green beans with a shallot, garlic, lemon, and butter sauce. TMC sent me a recipe but I don’t fuss much when I cook. I have a stick of butter and a minced shallot. After those get going I’m adding about 1/2 a teaspoon of pressed garlic. When I can smell it I’ll add about a 1/4 cup of lemon juice and (this is not in the recipe) some tarragon (my sister likes it) and a little corn starch to thicken.

I don’t like pure butter sauces so much because they slide right off the food and you hardly know they’re there.
