Formula One 2017: Österreichring

I’ll not over work this one. The only topic of conversation is Vettel’s deliberate ramming of Hamilton not once but twice under the Safety Car at Baku and whether the “slap on the wrist” penalty imposed (a 10 second “stop and go” during the race and 3 points from his Championship total after it) is sufficient.

Sufficient or not it is the only sanction Formula One will impose and the incidents are now considered closed.

Of course Vettel promised to play nice in the future and of course he will not because he’s the biggest asshole on the track.

Österreichring is an interesting little track that is in poor shape for racing despite all the money Red Bull has poured into it, not because the surface is crappy or the layout flawed but instead that the curbing is badly designed and in the wrong places so it keeps breaking titanium Barge Boards, carbon fiber cockpits, and shattering brake disks.

Were it not for the curbing and regulations one could possibly run from beginning to end on a single set of Ultra Softs. Everyone who’s not injured will try and make it in one and the good news is that the Super Softs don’t appear to opperate at much if any penalty.

Hamilton will start in eight because of a gearbox penalty.
