Don’t you see the rest of the country looks upon New York like we’re left-wing, communist, Jewish, homosexual pornographers? I think of us that way sometimes and I live here.

1 Anti-regime forces take west Libyan towns
by Samer al-Atrush, AFP
1 hr 56 mins ago
BENGHAZI, Libya (AFP) – Forces opposed to Moamer Kadhafi took control of several western Libyan towns, an official said on Sunday as the strongman played down such reports after world leaders called on him to quit.
Protest leaders meanwhile established a transitional “national council” in mainly eastern cities seized from the Kadhafi regime and called on the army to help them take the capital Tripoli. The chaos engulfing the oil-rich North African state of 6.3 million has fanned fears that Kadhafi’s hold on power could descend into civil war as the United Nations said nearly 100,000 people have streamed out of the country. |

Mets tied their first pre-season game against the Braves 5 – 5 with a 2 run homer by Willie Harris in the 10th. Yes, they just aclled it at 10. Lady Huskies clinched the regular season Big East title with a win at Georgetown 52 – 42 (it was closer than that).
No Fate.

We all know that the images we see can elicit strong emotional reactions. But I always wondered, can the images we see do more than hurt us emotionally? Is it possible to see something so bad that it actually hurts you physically? In other words, can too much black television kill you?

1 Terror in Tripoli as Kadhafi set for battle
by Imed Lamloum, AFP
1 hr 18 mins ago
TRIPOLI (AFP) – Terrified residents braced Saturday for bloody battles in an eerily quiet Tripoli after Moamer Kadhafi’s forces prepared to defend the city from a rebellion controlling much of the rest of the country.
UN Security Council envoys began tough negotiations on how to sanction the Libyan leader for a deadly crackdown that Tripoli’s mission to the United Nations said had killed thousands of protesters. Kadhafi’s son Seif al-Islam called late Saturday on the UN to send a “fact-finding” mission to Libya before taking any sanctions decision. |

Johnny Fontane never gets that movie. That part is perfect for him. It’ll make him a big star. I’m gonna run him out of the movies. And let me tell you why. Johnny Fontane ruined one of Woltz International’s most valuable proteges. For three years we had her under contract, singing lessons, dancing lessons, acting lessons. I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars. I was gonna make her a big star. And let me be even more frank, just to show you that I’m not a hard-hearted man, that it’s not all dollars and cents. She was beautiful, she was innocent, she was the greatest piece of ass I’ve ever had, and I’ve had it all over the world. And then Johnny Fontane comes along with his olive oil voice and guinea charm and she runs off. She threw it all away just to make me look ridiculous. And a man in my position can’t afford to be made to look ridiculous. Now you get the hell out of here. And you tell that gumba that if he wants to try any rough stuff that I ain’t no band leader. Yeah, I heard that story.
Thank you for the dinner and a very pleasant evening. Have your car take me to the airport. Mr Corleone is a man who insists on hearing bad news at once.

1 Kadhafi set for battle of Tripoli
AFP
TRIPOLI (AFP) – An embattled Moamer Kadhafi said he would throw open the country’s arsenals to his supporters in a rabble-rousing speech Friday that presaged a bloody battle for the Libyan capital.
In a brief but chilling address in Tripoli’s Green Square, Kadhafi told hundreds of cheering supporters to prepare themselves for a fight to defend the city. His loyalists had earlier killed several people in shooting that spread through the capital and French President Nicolas Sarkozy became the first world leader to openly demand the Libyan leader’s ouster. |

Solidarity Saturday
Tomorrow, Saturday, starting at noon there will be solidarity rallies for Wisconson workers at every Statehouse in America as well as some other locations. Moveon.org has this handy tool that will help you find one close to you.
If you happen to have a cheesehead it would certainly be appropriate and how many times can you say that? Moveon suggests Badger colors (red and white) perhaps because red is a labor color, I don’t think Packer green and gold would be out of place either (they are unionized and currently in negotiations with management).
I do seriously encourage any who can to take the time and attend. It is my hope that this will be as large as the demonstrations in favor of immigration and against the war in Iraq.
Thank you in advance.
