This will be a very instructive night. You’ll be able to directly compare Mississippi State to UConn on ESPN. They are a powerful program, worthy of respect. Since they don’t play UConn head to head so much it’s hard to tell how strong they are.

NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament 2019: Regional Quarterfinals- Day 2, Afternoon

Same Format as yesterday with New and Improved Results from the second day of the Round of 64. Actually there were a fair number of upsets with Iowa, Oklahoma, UC Irvine, Oregon, Washington, Liberty, and Ohio St. advancing to the Regional Quarterfinals. That’s 7 of 16 or 44% (well, 43.75%) which is pretty remarkable.

Though I wouldn’t know if it’s been remarked on actually. I haven’t really watched much of the action yet, my attention has been focused on Women’s World Championship Curling where Sweden and Switzerland are facing off for the Gold. It’s a long story and I’m sure you don’t want to hear it.

I understand there have been political developments too. March Madness!

Letting my freak Flag fly.

Ok, arguably Baylor had a better day than UConn because margin. They also had a weaker seed being #1 and all, I don’t begrudge them.

Not so many upsets, there rarely are in the Women’s Tournament during the Round of 64 since there is such a difference between the Premier Programs and everybody else. As you move forward you get more. On Day 1 you had Buffalo, Clemson, and Indiana.

Progressives Refuse to Back Down as DCCC Moves to Kneecap Primary Challengers

Progressives made clear they have no intention of backing down to the party establishment after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Friday threatened to cut off funds to firms and strategists that support primary challengers against incumbents.

“The DCCC can do anything it wants to try to prevent the next generation of Democrats from taking power. They will not succeed,” Sean McElwee—co-founder of Data for Progress, which is recruiting progressives to oust conservative Democrats—said in a statement.

The new policy was included in the DCCC’s list of vendor hiring standards, which state that the organization “will not conduct business with, nor recommend to any of its targeted campaigns, any consultant that works with an opponent of a sitting member of the House Democratic Caucus.”

Drugged orangutan found in Russian’s airline luggage

A Russian tourist attempting to smuggle a drugged orangutan out of Indonesia in his suitcase to bring home and keep as a pet has been arrested in Bali, police said on Saturday.

Andrei Zhestkov was detained in Denpasar airport late on Friday while passing through a security screening before a planned flight back to Russia.

Suspicious officers stopped him and opened his luggage to find a two-year-old male orangutan sleeping inside a rattan basket.

“We believe the orangutan was fed allergy pills which caused him to sleep. We found the pills inside the suitcase,” Bali conservation agency official I Ketut Catur Marbawa said.

“[Zhestkov] seemed prepared, like he was transporting a baby,” he added.

The 27-year-old also packed baby formula and blankets for the orangutan, Marbawa said.

Police also found two live geckos and five lizards inside the suitcase.

I’ve decided to break the games into Early and Late sessions. CBS of course wants you to plant your butt in front of the screen all day, but the truth is that the Early stuff is all CBS all the time so you could watch every single game from beginning to end if sheer volume is your goal.

I’m dividing it because of the tendency of items to slide out of consciousness off the bottom, especially on busy days (Did something happen? I wasn’t paying attention. March Madness!). Thus the Prime Time games will be posted closer to Prime Time.
