Well, there’s some kind of College Throwball tonight, TTBA.  Phillies back in Philadelphia which may improve their fortunes, or not.  It’s not a place that you want to be, one game away from elimination.

I’m kind of amazed.  There’s very little coverage of the Senior Circuit, maybe the Yankees loss sucked up all the Oxygen.  What there is focuses on the Phillies lack of offense which has been puzzling though I think it unfair to focus on 1 or 2 individuals.  They haven’t been able to put together innings.  It’s not a team that plays long ball anyway.

I fully expect all my brackets to be blown and be exposed for a sentimental fool in any event.

Yeongam Qualifying.  Yeongam @ 1:30 am on Speed.  Sorry for stepping on you last night Doc, but Dad was headed for bed and I wanted him to have a chance to read it.  Repeat @ 4:30 pm.

Later-

SNL- Emma Stone, Kings of Leon.  GitS: SACScandal, Equinox (Episodes 22 and 23).

I want to talk to you for a minute. If you make a noise, I shall blow your head off at once. By the time anyone has heard the shot I shall be running back toward the castle shouting for help. I shall say that you stepped on the trap and your gun went off as you fell. So be quiet.

When I’ve finished I shall kill you. You will the the sixth D’Ascoyne that I’ve killed. You want to know why? In return for what the D’Acoyne’s did to my mother. Because she married for love instead of for rank or money or land. They condemed her to a life of poverty and slavery, in a world for which they had not equipped her to deal. You yourself refused to grant her dying wish, which was to be buried here, at Chalfont. When I saw her poor little coffin underground, saw her exiled in death as she had been in life, I swore to have revenge on your intolerable pride. That revenge I am just about to complete.

I made an oath that I would revenge the wrongs her family had done her. It was no more than a piece of youthful bravado, but it was one of those acorns from which great oaks are destined to grow. Even then I went so far as to examine the family tree and prune it to just the living members. But what could I do to hurt them? What could I take from them, except, perhaps, their lives.

The Phillies hang on by the skin of their teeth which is good for Atrios (and my brackets) I suppose, me I’m all in favor of extended Baseball no matter how boring it is because compared to regular TV it’s a thrill a minute.

Maybe a minute and a half.

Junior Leaguers back at it tonight.  Phil Hughes has something to prove, but that’s usually not a predictor.  The key as always is going to be the Yankee offense which, when they hit, hit big for many runs.  That’s why they get the bling after all.  Still, even Mom (who’s a fan) was saying how old the Yankees looked this series.

1 am Qualifying @ Yeongam.

Later-

Dave?  9/22.

Me? I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It’s the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly… stupid.

Take what you can, give nothing back.

Prime Time

It’s Junior League travel day and at least the Yankees have spared themselves the indignity of losing in the Stadium.

Tonight we get to see the Phillies blow my brackets, a rematch of Halladay v. Lincecum that was such a boring entertaining  matchup in an inside your eyelids kind of way in Game 1.  I do hope the Phillies win so I can watch the end of the series instead of napping.

But the big news is that they’re apparently going to run Korea after all.  Hamilton is promising not to give up, but frankly he needs a couple of big DNFs from Webber.  Practice starts tonight at 1 am on Speed.  Qualifying tomorrow, also @ 1.

Broadcast premiers mostly.  Mostly.

Later-

No Dave, 10/4.  No Jon or Stephen at all.  No Alton.

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

God darnit, Mr. Lamarr, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty dollar whore.

Take this down. I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists.

Could you repeat that, sir?

Well tonight you have a chance to see my other surviving bracket get 1 game away from elimination.  About all I can say is that Atrios will be disappointed.  Both teams will be pitching their 3rd best so it will be a test of offense and bullpens.

All premiers on broadcast.

Later-

No Dave, Jon, or Stephen; 9/9, 10/11, 10/11.  No Alton.

Pinstripe fans seem disappointed today, but it was Cliff Lee, the Rangers’ Ace, and he went 120 pitches so you don’t have to worry about him for the rest of the series.  What you should be worried about is the bullpen implosion.  Six runs in the 9th?

I’d bring back CC on short rest tonight so that if he’s good and you need it he can pitch the 7th game too.  If he struggles then you have AJ to pick up the pieces.  Evidently Joe disagrees.

I understand a Senior League sporting team is also engaging in athletic competition today.  I think they should strive to succeed so they get their away split in the bag, but so far thei offense has been lacking.

And there are other things you can watch, mostly premiers on broadcast.

No Dave, Jon, or Stephen, 10/7, 10/13, 10/13.  No Alton.

I understand a Senior League team was victorious in a sporting competition.  Hopefully the listings give you some idea where to switch so yu don’t have to listen to God Bless America all the time.  I’m not yet despairing of my brackets,  The Phillies showed almost Yankee like offensive powers last night.  This Series is pitching matched up, so you get the best pitcher against the best and so on.  Tuesday will be the third game in the series and it will be interesting to see how each offense performs against the ‘not so good’ pitcher.

Of course it’s the third game in the Junior League tonight and as you’ll recall the Yankees started their Ace first game, but the Rangers had to wait until tonight for theirs which means he’ll probably only pitch the once.  Once being of course in the first game in Yankee Stadium.  Lee has impressive statistics.  Opposed by Pettite who really is only the third best.  Again I think it comes down to offense in which I think the Rangers are less good.  If they can solve Pettite and put it away they’re likely to win.  If it’s close- everyone on the Yankees can hit.

But while it would ruin my 5 game prediction it doesn’t alter my opinion of the ultimate outcome.  Means the Yankees need to win on the road again and they’ve already shown they can do it.

Postseason ace vs. October pro in Game 3 of ALCS

By MIKE FITZPATRICK, AP Sports Writer

NEW YORK – Cliff Lee’s left arm has been the most dominant force in baseball during the past two postseasons. Now, all that October success has earned him another matchup with the New York Yankees.

“They’re basically an All-Star team. From top to bottom, they have threats everywhere,” Lee said. “I’m not going to get intimidated.”

With the best-of-seven AL championship series tied at one apiece, the scene shifts to Yankee Stadium for Game 3 on Monday night, when a pair of pressure-proven pitchers will be back in the spotlight.

Broadcast premiers.

Later-

No Dave.  No Jon or Stephen.  Or rather repeats from 9/21, 10/12, and 10/12.  Fortunately there is double Alton, Oats 2 and 1.

Prime Time

Well, your host for Prime Time ek hornbeck is off this evening so Prime Time is being hosted by yours truly, TheMomCat, tonight. Don’t be too hard on me since I don’t watch TV all that much. So this will be an abbreviated edition tonight with some Live Blogging of Game 2 of the MLB Playoffs with San Francisco at Philadelphia in Game 2 of the NL Championship Series which starts at 8 PM.

Since it is in Fox here in NYC those of you unfortunate enough to have Cable Vision as your cable provider you are out of luck unless you have a converter and rabbit ears. Cable Vision and Fox are still duking it out over how much Fox wants from Cable Vision for the privilege of airing their channels.

I am also not much of a sports fan, so feel free to comment along with me as I call the balls and strikes. Just keep in mind I have no clue as to who the top players are and absolutely no favorite in this ball game.

Now my attempt at the Unusual Suspects for your viewing pleasure.

So today Rangers fans and Yankee haters are getting their revenge (though 5 runs is not enough) but the point is that you only have to split away and that’s already done.  Tonight on Faux we have a pitchers’ duel which means a boring game barring a breakdown.  I’ve already picked the Phillies, I say they do it in 6.  Does this hurt the eventual Yankees matchup?  Did you see CC last night?  Vincible.

There is also Turn Left Racing.

Yankees @ Rangers.  Their aces aren’t going to pitch against each other unless the series goes deep and then the Rangers will be on short rest.  The Yankees will look to get an easy away victory tonight so they can close out at home.  I predict Yankees in 5 because their offense is clearly superior.  My offensive observation is I don’t think their pitchers are any better than the Phillies (with the exception of Rivera) and like all Junior League clubs they’re longball prima donnas who were never taught how to put to put together an inning with base hits and running nor stop one with their glove work.

Designated hitter my ass.

There are other things on TV but why would you want to watch them?
