Hello. Some of you know me as Lorelai Gilmore, and some of me know me as Cher, but either way, I wanted to say a few words about our girl. I’ve known Lane forever, and I’m just so incredibly happy that she has gotten married. I mean, I am just so happy that this adorable 22-year-old girl has gotten married, because it’s amazing, you know? It’s really hard to get married. Believe me, I should know. I mean, seriously, because Lane is married, and next thing, it’ll be my daughter, and then my granddaughter, but not me. I’m not getting married. No, it ain’t for me. It’s not in the cards. But hey, do you know what date I’m not getting married? June 3. Do not save the date. Do you hear me? Do whatever you want on June 3, because there’s nothing at all going on that day. If there’s anything you need to book, it’s totally safe to book it on June 3, So congratulations, Lane and Zack. Who else here had eight shots of tequila, huh? Hands? Nobody? Hmm. Oh, God, who misses the yummy bartenders? I know, me too, they’re so great. I was gonna ask them to not work on June 3, on my not wedding day. I just thought that would be so fun.

Ugh.  Well, I’m starting to wish I hadn’t decided to be a super cool party person last night not because of the hangover, I’ve got pancakes for that, but because the choices tonight are so much worse-

A good night if you like Abbott and Costello or Indian films from 1929.  Frankenstein was written in part as a reaction to the erruption of Mount Tambora (according to Mega Disasters).

Feast or famine?  Fortunately I’ll be distracted most of the evening by one of Doose’s follies and with any luck at all won’t lack for amusement until tomorrow’s victory lap around the Champs Elysees.

It’s the little things that make me happy, like a Friday night of TV that doesn’t suck.

No Jon or Stephen of course, though at least Stephen will be back on Monday (Jon hasn’t posted his guests yet).  Keith still has one more week of vacation unless there’s another Republican lie that causes Obama to fold like a house of cards and what are the odds of that?  A reminder that you only get the one shot at Rachel, if you miss Larry you won’t be missing much.

But on to the embarrassment of riches-

• AMC– Pulp Fiction, the only Travolta movie I can stand.
• CNBC– Wall Street, like 1984 it’s supposed to be a cautionary tale, not a blueprint.
• ESPN– World Cup Women’s Softball, U.S. v. Japan.  Dad reminds me that the Raybestos Brakettes are still in business and have won 40 straight.
• FX– The Da Vinci Code (psst, it’s fiction.  Well, except for that part about Masons ruling the world.)
• SciFi– Last week’s and new Eureka, new Haven
• TBS– Family Guy x 2, Heartbreak Kid
• Turner Classic– Poor Little Rich Girl, Jets @ Raiders- 1968
• Discovery– Odd Couple Survival Night, Tony Randall is not my favorite avatar.
• TNT– Fellowship of the Ring (bah, too much back story).
• Toon– New Ben 10 and Generator Rex, Clone Wars
• Disney– Phineas & Ferb from 9 to 10.

It would be interesting to know if Turner Classic programmed tonight before or after the Sherrod story broke.

Rene Russo is the only good thing about Outbreak.  Nats @ Reds.  ID4 was ok the first 15 times, now not so much.  You know there’s something wrong when you’re out acted by Olivia Newton John Vinnie.  Mr. & Mrs. was never good.

There’s a new episode of Chasing Mummies which I’m hoping is better than the first.  This one is about the Grand Gallery.  12 Angry Men kicks off jury night on Turner Classics.  I still haven’t quite figured out what Buster’s Cut is all about unless they’re recycling their web out takes.  Came up with a great myth to test the other day- does recoil depend on the orientation of the gun or is it always in opposition to gravity?

Or more likely Man v. Food.

Murder Most Foul, I’m a great big sucker for Marple mysteries which I know less well than Poirot.  Careers in Science really starts the story of Rusty’s relationship with Jonas.  Virus is no better than Outbreak, just another biowar propoganda piece.

Dave has Bill Murray who might be worth watching.  As far as I’m concerned the best piece he ever did was the monologue about picking up a Subway in his first season on SNL, but even his lesser efforts are often worth the attention.  Also, Alejandro Escovedo.

Alton has Oysters.

Ghost Ship.  Didn’t like it the first two times and I see no reason it can expect a better opinion from me.  Fallen is not any better because it has Denzel and John in it.  Last week’s Futurama which I’ve somehow missed.  New Chopped at 10.

Last week’s and this week’s Warehouse 13 then WWE which is just one of many puzzling SciFi programming decisions.  Turner Classic scores a rare 0 for with Canyon Passage, Forbidden Passage, and Suez which even Yahoo TV calls ‘slow’.

Man v. Food.

Later-

Dave has Steve Carell, Selena Gomez, and Sheryl Crow.  Alton covers dried fruit.  The Venture Brothers are evidently running in order from yesterday’s pilot.  Tonight- Dia de los Dangerous!

Ultimate Car Build Off looks like fun, last week (repeated @ 8) they built cars out of the front half of front wheel drive cars.

What I think I’m going to watch is Hornblower.  It’s part of Gregory Peck night on Turner Classic, but the attraction to me is I’m a huge C. S. Forester fan.  The 1951 film is an adaptation of Beat to Quarters, Ship of the Line, and Flying Colors.

Since it’s a Hollywood film it concentrates a lot on his courtship of his second and better connected trophy wife Lady Barbara (sister of Arthur Wellesley) and not his more realistic and problematic first wife Maria.

My dog rescuing friend knows one of the characters on Pit Boss so I suppose I should mention that they have their second season premier at 10.  AMC has another one of their ‘instant classics’, Troy, which is ok if you like gladiator movies or Brad Pitt I guess.

Sandra Bullock night on ABC Family with Practical Magic and Two Weeks Notice.  I mentioned that Shrek owes Piers Anthony money yesterday.  Discovery has 2 episodes of Powering the Future which is about alternative energy and could be interesting.  Chasing Mummies didn’t turn out to be as compelling as I had hoped.

Looney Tunes: Back in Action is a Roger Rabbit green screen festival and is doubly unsatisfying because it’s one of the latter day Daffy/Bugs pairings that does nothing but remind you of how good they were in the 40s.  Turner Classic goes Morocco mad with Road to Morocco followed by Morocco.  If you can’t get enough Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe you could watch American Gangster.
