Rant of the Week: Stephen Colbert: The Word – Silent But Deadly

The Word – Silent But Deadly

A scarcity of lethal injection drugs leads to botched executions, and Tennessee’s capital punishment law allows the state to hide unpleasant details from the public.

I have always been totally opposed to the death penalty.  IMHO, this does not make us any better than those we execute.  In fact, it makes us worse.

But if those backward states are going to continue with this barbaric practice, then let the sun shine in.  Execute the prisoners in the public square, have TV cameras around, and show the faces of the executioners, as well as those who have ordered this execution.  Let it all hang out.

(And, BTW, we treat our pets better than we do prisoners.)
