A few weeks ago, in my last post I was making a lot of prints on my home made gelatin plate. I had a giant stack of beautiful papers, but what to do with them? I had an idea that I wanted to make some kind of collage, but not just random bits of paper. I like bright colors, but I didn’t want them to fight against each other too hard. Here’s what I came up with.
The trees, the lady and the sun are cut from the papers I printed on the plate, the canvas is painted with acrylics, then I used various stencils, inks and stamps, a little glazing, and there it is. It’s 11×14.
It has a companion piece that I am just putting the finishing touches on. This one is smaller, only 8×10, and on a flat canvas, I found the stretched canvas a little awkward to work on. (not that I won’t work on it again, I will) Again, lady, tree, moon, and cats cut from my prints and then put onto painted background and more paint and ink added.
I’m pretty happy with both of them. Not only that, but I have several more planned out in my head. And that’s good, because I bought a pile of canvases, that I probably shouldn’t have, but I did. Because I haven’t been this engaged in something for years.
And here, if you’re still at all interested, is the first practice piece I did, to see if any of what was in my head was going to work at all.
Does that look blurry? Hmm, I’m going to have to play with this new format a little to figure this stuff out. Could be my camera too. It’s just the one on my phone.
So, that’s what I’ve been up to while the blog was down.

Now I’m waiting for Baboo to come home from a call back audition for The Lion King. I hope he gets a decent part.

Thanks!
Welcome back. Love the kitty theme. Really sweet.
We are still all learning the new controls, trial & error, hopefully getting as close to the result we want. we’re still tweaking.
