2016 Senior League Division Series: Game 4, Cubs @ Giants

Well it certainly looked like the Cubs (106 – 59) had this game won, improbably, with pitcher Arrieta’s 3 RBI blast in the 2nd. Bumgarner never lets opposing pitchers touch him up- ever. In the 3rd and the 5th the Giants (89 – 76)cut into it a little bit. Bumgarner departed after the 5th, Arrieta 2 Innings later and then the Bullpens started to get lit up until at 2 am ET we were knotted in Extra Innings at 5.

And I went to bed. C’mon, 2 am!

The Giants scored a walk off in the 13th (around 3 am) and so we play again today. The Cubs clinch or play at home, the Giants win or go golfing.

Yesterday’s Game

Top 2nd- HBP. Infield Single. 3 RBI HR. Cubs 3 – 0.

Bottom 3rd- Double. RBI Single. Cubs 3 – 1.

Bottom 5th- Triple. RBI Sacrifice. Cubs 3 – 2.

Bottom 8th- Leadoff Single. Walk. 2 RBI Triple. Giants 4 – 3. RBI Single. Giants 5 – 3.

Top 9th- Leadoff Walk. 2 RBI HR. Tied at 5.

Bottom 13th- Double. RBI Double. Giants 6 – 5 Final.

Cubs lead Series 2 – 1.

The Giants send Matt Moore (L, 6 – 5, 4.08 ERA) to the hill. Their original game plan was to either have him start Game 2 or play for a split at the Cubs and use him in Game 4 as the Clincher. That didn’t happen. The Cubs will counter with John Lackey (R, 11 – 8, 3.35 ERA) who just happens to be the last pitcher to eliminate the Giants in Post Season play. On paper he’s much better though Moore has been hot recently.
