The last presidential debate ended last night with the candidates walking off the stage without even making eye contact, let alone a handshake. The take today is that Donald blew and, no matter how his campaign and supporters spin it, his refusal to say he would accept the election results was the final strike in the third game of the World Series with Hillary ahead 3 games to none. Once again, the late night show hosts had their takes.
“The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert, in a live opening monologue, ripped into Donald for refusing to say he if he would concede if he loses, “he’s going to keep us in suspense whether he’ll wipe his fat ass with the Constitution,” and much more.
Also in a live appearance, Trevor Noah, host of “The Daily Show” expressed horror at Donald’s threat:
“Am I the only one who is super freaked out by this?”
“Trump’s basically running his campaign like an episode of ‘Scandal.’ Only with less black people, and less women in power and a more realistic understanding of politics. But other than that, exactly like ‘Scandal.’”
Unfortunately, Seth Meyers has been off this week but GQ’s Keith Olbermann has “The Closer,” who would like to see Donald “Burn. In. Hell!”
“It was the first time in American history, through dozens of venomous painful campaigns and a series of impossibly close elections, the first and only time that a candidate of a major party had violated the fundamental precept of our democracy,” Olbermann explained. “It shakes every one of our freedoms, it mocks every dead American soldier, it spits in every sacrifice made under our flag.”
“This time it slipped passed no one. Not the moderator, not Fox News, not even Breitbart.com,” he continued. “It was not a flash of anger from a man who gets angry once an hour. It was not another slab of red meat thrown to his crazed supporters. It was not another outrageous statement to throw up against the wall in this cheap reality show version of a presidential campaign. He meant it! He means it!”
On November 9th the series will be over and there will be only one winner. Whether Donald accepts that or not is irrelevant
