Turkeys

I once had occasion to chat with a Turkey farmer and asked him if it was true that Turkeys were so dumb that you had to bring them in out of the rain otherwise they would stare at the sky, mouths agape, until they drowned.

It took longer than I expected for him to answer, “Well, they’re not quite that dumb.”

So, as Sesame Street’s Count would say “We have, one, two, three… We have THREE women!. Bwahhahhahhah.” Christine Blasey Ford (Diane Feinstein’s), Deborah Ramirez (Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer’s), and Michael Avenatti’s player to appear on TV sometime before Wednesday. Kavanaugh will appear on Faux tonight.

With his wife.

Now what gives this all a Turkey staring at the sky kind of feeling is that it has to be obvious by now that even if Kavanaugh gets confirmed he is damaged goods. I suppose it doesn’t matter if you’re shameless enough (Bush v. Gore) but I wonder why the Republicans are sticking with him despite the demonstrable damage he’s doing to their electoral prospects.

I mean, yeah, red meat on abortion for the base and they’ve already written off women with more than a High School education, but there are plenty of other Federalist Society candidates who are as bad or worse. What makes Kavanaugh special? I mean other than he’s a lying perjurer, a sexual predator, a gambler, and a drunk.

It’s probably that Trump considers him a sure vote as the details of his treason and corruption emerge.

The smart money today is saying the rumors of Rosenstein’s departure and with it the prospect of more direct action against Special Council Mueller is a distraction from Kavanaugh’s woes, I think it’s all part of the same thing- The Great Russian Coverup. Potential Justices who will rule Roe was wrongly decided are a dime a dozen, those who will overturn United States v. Nixon are harder to find.

I hope the magnitude of Trump’s crimes when summarized and reported to Congress shock the conscience of even the most bigoted misogynistic Republican but I have no faith that any supposed “moderate” has one.

Update-

Four! We have 4 Women. Bwahhahhahhah.

Third woman expected to make accusations of sexual misconduct
by Joanna Walters, The Guardian
Mon 24 Sep 2018

Avenatti tweeted on Sunday evening that: “I represent a woman with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge. We will be demanding the opportunity to present testimony to the committee and will likewise be demanding that Judge and others be subpoenaed to testify. The nomination must be withdrawn.”

Within minutes on Sunday night, Avenatti had been contacted by Mike Davis, the chief counsel for nominations for the judiciary committee, asking that any additional information “be submitted so that Senate investigators may promptly begin an inquiry”.

Avenatti replied that he was aware of significant evidence of Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, in summary, participating in “the targeting of women” with alcohol or drugs at house parties in the Washington DC-area in the early 1980s “in order to allow a ‘train’ of men to gang rape them”.

Avenatti then posted: “Senate investigators should pose the following questions to Judge Kavanaugh without delay and provide the answers to the American people,” and then listed detailed questions, including: “Did you ever target one or more women for sex or rape at a house party? Did you ever assist Mark Judge or others in doing so?”

On Monday he further posted that his new client has previously worked within the state department, the US Mint and the Department of Justice and has been granted multiple security clearances in the past. “The GOP and others better be very careful in trying to suggest that she is not credible,” he added.

Avenatti acknowledged that the list of detailed, questions about various aspects of the alleged sexual misconduct which he thought the committee should ask Kavanaugh, were noticeably specific.

“They are very pointed because they are designed to elicit answers that go directly to the facts,” he said.

More News-

Collins thinks Deborah Ramirez should testify. Folks, time to stick a fork in it. Murkowski is a sure no, the Governor of Alaska is begging her (Native Americans are a big constituency and well organized) and there’s a #metoo scandal raging. With just a 1 vote margin that leaves it up to Pence. If Collins does the right thing (and I have no confidence at all she will) that puts it out of reach, Flake, Corker, and Scott be damned.

What’s puzzling is how irrational the insistence has been from Republican leadership the nomination proceed. As I say, anti-abortion Judges are dirt common- you can hardly spit without hitting one, why back a candidate who organizes Gang Rapes? Kavanaugh will have to withdraw, he doesn’t have the votes, the only question is if it happens before Thursday or after.
