Major League Baseball All-Star Game!

Explain to me why I should be watching this exhibition again?  Am I scouting for stretch and playoff trades?

As a Mets fan I’m content to work off injuries and dangle our bait and satisfied when everyone plays to their potential.

And we’re competing against the hated Braves and not the upstart Phillies, what could be better than that?

The reason for Junior League ascendancy of late is simply that since the designated hitter rule every single game they play is an exhibition unless it’s in a National League park during (shudder) inter-League play.

Now, about those wild cards and short play-offs, and there’s that lowering the mound thing…

Every record since the live ball is suspect.

  1. I have a friend who does fantasy.  Much more intense than the real thing.

  2. Olbermann talks about the latest attempt at stopping the gushing oil well, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the jobless and, of course, Steinbrenner’s passing with Joe Torre and Ken Burns.

Sneak preview at the “worst” “Steinbrenner dies, Limbaugh jokes” from twitter

  3. The so called All Star game is an abomination.  Ditto designated hitters, no Sunday, single admission double headers, the ridiculous playoff season, fake turf, night games all the time.  MLB doesn’t give a hoot whether kids, the primary audience for baseball, can stay away to see this game, to see their heroes.  No.  It’s more important to MLB for fat cat corporate box owners to go the the game.  And the pre-game show?  Jeepers.  I thought the first f*cking pitch would be 8 pm.  You tell me.  We need this kind of pre-game bs?  with background music?  with “community all stars”?  with dancing and singing while they mingle?  Holy smokes.  Fox and MLB should get a room together.  They are killing this game, if it’s not dead already.  Can we please go back to the old days?  Arrgh.
