Breakfast Tune: Sean Lennon at Occupy Wall St, Oct 23, 2011 (Day 37) cover Madonna’s Material Girl

Recorded October 23, 2011, 6pm. Sean Lennon, his girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Rufus Wainwright, Dustin Hamman, and others perform an impromptu cover of “Material Girl” by Madonna ….but not until Josh Fox of the film “Gasland” talks to the crowd about hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”. They dedicate the song to Ben Bernanke, and Hank Paulson.

Seemed they picked this song only because of the verse, “Living in a material world” which they repeat over, and over again.

Another lion-like animal spotted in Milwaukee metro area

Brendan O’Brien

MILWAUKEE (Reuters) – Another large mountain-lion type of an animal has been spotted in metro Milwaukee, where similar reported animal sightings have captivated residents in recent weeks, authorities said on Thursday.

A large wild cat, similar to a mountain lion or cougar, was spotted on Wednesday afternoon in the Town of Grafton, about 20 miles (30 km) north of the north-side Milwaukee neighborhood where similar sightings where reported more than two weeks ago, the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page.

Deputies went to the area but were unable to confirm the sighting. State wildlife officials have been contacted, the sheriff’s department said.

“If you see the animal, stay away, and contact your local police jurisdiction,” the department warned.

Milwaukeeans have been fascinated by the possibility that a lion is roaming their city since July 20, when a woman reported seeing a lion in her neighborhood.

Since then, police have responded to dozens of calls from residents who say they have seen a lion-like cat, while the reported sightings have dominated local news, water-cooler talk and social media.

Bernie Sanders Clearly In Pocket Of High-Rolling Teacher Who Donated $300 To His Campaign

BURLINGTON, VT-After accepting a check sent to his campaign office by a local elementary school teacher, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was roundly criticized Monday as being firmly in the pocket of the high-rolling educator who had donated $300.

“He might have the reputation of being the people’s candidate, but when your candidacy is effectively bankrolled by the multi-hundred-dollar donation of a fourth-grade teacher, it’s clear who’s really pulling the strings,” said political analyst Peter Mathews, who noted that when a check arrives with a handwritten note that says “Behind you 100 percent, Bernie!” it comes with certain expectations.

“He’s already spouting off talking points about supporting unions and increasing funding for education. Where do you think he got those ideas? He might think he’s not influenced by that money, but when someone has deep enough pockets to drop $300, you pick up the phone when they call.”

Mathews went on to say he wouldn’t be surprised if Sanders’ strong support for a living wage could be directly traced to the fat $20 contribution he got from a fast-food worker.

Michigan township draws more people to meeting with hot dogs

VICTORY TOWNSHIP, MI – Here’s a way to boost interest in local government: potato salad.

A township board in northern Michigan held a lakeside picnic Monday before its regular meeting. After an hour of hot dogs and side dishes, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the Victory Township board meeting was officially in order.

The Ludington Daily News says about two dozen people attended the picnic and meeting at Upper Hamlin Lake in Mason County. Only three people attended the June meeting at the township hall.

There were reports from law enforcement and a lake preservation group. The board also discussed a junk ordinance.

Biden Bid False Flag

I can’t be the first to think of this but…..

Join me in my conspiracy corner for a moment.

Who benefits from Biden dangling a phony potential presidential bid in front of the politics-is-a-horse-race media for a couple months?

And what will the corporate media not talk about while they breathlessly wait for Biden’s decision?

Could it be Chevy?

Could it be Ford?

Oh I know. Dodge.

As Clinton Dodges on KXL, Sanders Voices ‘Vigorous’ Opposition

Hillary Clinton says she’ll take a firm position for or against the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, but only after it’s already been decided by the current administration or after she’s elected president in 2016.

Asked about her stance on the controversial project at a town hall-style meeting in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Clinton said that as the former Secretary of State it would be “inappropriate” for her to take a position because the review of the controversial project was initiated under her direction.

However, critics of Clinton’s statement-including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), currently her leading rival for the Democratic nomination-were quick to pounce on the opportunity.

“So bogus,” tweeted 350.org’s communication director Jamie Henn after the news broke about the candidate’s comment. “Clinton has taken positions on all sorts of ongoing policy issues.”

He also said the dodge is as much an issue of political leadership as it is about climate change. Invoking the Clinton’s campaign preferred social media hashtag, Henn added, “Come on, #HardChoices, let’s see some leadership here!”

The way I see it, this gives the corporate media a chance to reinforce their message of Hill’s inevitability and Bernie’s supposed un-electability.

Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Breakfast Tune: Sailin’ Up, Sailin’ Down – Pete Seeger (Banjo), Lorre Wyatt & Friends live on The Clearwater

Published on Sep 30, 2010

On morning of August 21, 2010 Pete Seeger, Lorre Wyatt and friends gathered aboard the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater to film their performance of the new song “God’s Counting on Me, God’s Counting on You.” After the filming, while the Clearwater was docking, they had an impromptu jam session that included this song “Sailin’ Up, Sailin’ Down.” Pete Seeger played banjo and took two solos. Lorre Wyatt played acoustic guitar and sang a verse. Some refer to this song as Sailing up, Sailing Down nut the actual title has no G’s.

In Milwaukee – The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Is a lion loose in Milwaukee?

Kay Nolan, Julie Bosman – NYT

MILWAUKEE – One man saw the creature for only a few bone-chilling seconds, but he remembers that it was big, with heavy brown fur and a long tail, and not in any particular hurry as it walked through his neighborhood in Milwaukee and then disappeared into a thickly wooded ravine.

It could be a young African lion that was purchased on the open market, kept as a pet and then released when it became too large to handle, one wildlife expert speculated. (Wisconsin state law is notably relaxed on the possession of exotic animals.) Or it could be a cougar, an animal that has been spotted more frequently in populated areas of the Midwest in recent years. The Milwaukee County Zoo announced last week that all of its lions were safe and accounted for.

Jeff Kozlowski, owner of the Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue in Rock Springs, Wis., said that if that was the case, there was little hope of finding the person who lost control of the animal. “If you had a pet lion and it got out and it was causing this much uproar,” he said dryly, “would you call in and say it was yours?”

Get the waffles! Maple syrup spills on New Hampshire highway

AP July 27, 2015

KEENE, N.H. (AP) – The only thing missing was the waffles.

Authorities in Keene, New Hampshire, were in for some sticky times when a load of maple syrup shifted in a tractor trailer and leaked very slowly all over a main highway.

Police Sgt. Thaddeus Derendal says about 220 gallons of the sweet-smelling pancake-topper from a Vermont producer oozed onto Route 101 on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters used squeegees to corral the mess and poured something like kitty litter on it to speed the drying process. The two eastbound lanes were reduced to one lane while the cleanup was underway.
