Published on Sep 30, 2010
On morning of August 21, 2010 Pete Seeger, Lorre Wyatt and friends gathered aboard the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater to film their performance of the new song “God’s Counting on Me, God’s Counting on You.” After the filming, while the Clearwater was docking, they had an impromptu jam session that included this song “Sailin’ Up, Sailin’ Down.” Pete Seeger played banjo and took two solos. Lorre Wyatt played acoustic guitar and sang a verse. Some refer to this song as Sailing up, Sailing Down nut the actual title has no G’s.

No charges brought against two officers present at traffic stop killing
Al Jazeera and wire services
A grand jury has decided that no charges are warranted against two University of Cincinnati police officers who responded to the traffic stop in which another officer fatally shot a driver.
…
The Hamilton County prosecutor says the two officers arrived as Tensing reached into the car. He says their official statements about what happened matched what was shown on Tensing’s body camera, and neither of the two officers said in official interviews that they saw Tensing dragged. From the body camera’s recording after the shooting transpired, at least one of the officers erroneously told fellow officers that Officer Tensing had been dragged by DuBose’s car, but that discrepancy was not in a sworn statement that the two officers subsequently gave. …
GERMAN JOURNALISTS INVESTIGATED FOR TREASON AFTER PUBLISHING SURVEILLANCE LEAKS
Morgan Marquis-Boire, The Intercept
Two journalists at the prominent German news website Netzpolitik are under investigation for treason after publishing details about the planned expansion of the German Secret Service’s Internet surveillance program.
On Wednesday, the organization received a letter from the Federal Attorney General of Germany confirming ongoing investigations against reporters Markus Beckedahl, Andre Meister (pictured), and an “unknown source” for the articles, one of which was published in February and detailed a secret budget plan for surveillance activities, and another, from April, describing a new surveillance unit for monitoring social networking and online chats. Meister has characterized the plans as being part of Germany’s “post-Snowden” internet surveillance push.
Netzpolitik, which reports on politics and technology, learned within the last several weeks that Federal Attorney General of Germany was investigating the stories, but believed its sources were the target of the investigation rather than its journalists, Meister said in an interview. Only yesterday did it became clear that Meister and Beckedahl were also under investigation. …
Windows 10: Microsoft under attack over privacy
Alex Hern, The Guardian
Windows 10 is under attack over default settings which users say compromise their privacy, just days after the operating system’s successful launch saw more than 14 million installs in the first 24 hours.
Hundreds of commenters on sites such as Hacker News and Reddit have criticised default settings that send personal information to Microsoft, use bandwidth to upload data to other computers running the operating system, share Wi-Fi passwords with online friends and remove the ability to opt out of security updates.
Many of the complaints relate to the new personalised adverts embedded in Windows 10. When the OS is installed, Microsoft assigns the user a unique advertising ID, which it ties to the email address registered with the company. That email address is also associated with a raft of other services, such as the company’s productivity and communication programs, as well as app downloads and cloud-storage uploads. …

Texas man shoots armadillo, gets hit in face by bullet ricochet
Lisa Maria Garza, Reuters
DALLAS – An East Texas man was wounded after he fired a gun at an armadillo in his yard and the bullet ricocheted back to hit him in his face, the county sheriff said on Friday.
Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man, who was not identified, went outside his home in Marietta, southwest of Texarkana, at around 3 a.m. on Thursday morning. He spotted the armadillo on his property and opened fire.
“His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo,” Rowe said.
The animal’s hard shell deflected at least one of three bullets, which then struck the man’s jaw, he said.
The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where his jaw was wired shut, according to Rowe.
The status of the animal is unknown.
“We didn’t find the armadillo,” the sheriff said.
