Party at SHG-That Reminds Me

This week at the Party we’re going to do something a little different. Instead of telling you what theme to post to, you tell me something. You tell me what the song you’re posting reminds you of or makes you think about. Okay? Okay!

This one reminds me of being 14 or 15 years old and sleeping out in the summertime, and running around the neighborhood at night. Mostly just meeting up with our friends, smoking, and playing cards, but our moms would have been plenty pissed off.

This one reminds me of late nights drinking beer with my three best friends at my first job.

This one reminds me of my friend Chuck, who died of cancer at 22, and wanted us to drink a shot for him whenever we were in a bar and heard this tune, and up until I was forced to stop drinking, I always did.

This one reminds me of the first time I ever saw my husband perform. It was around six years before we got together, I was there with my first husband, to see my sister sing with this new band she was in, Cleetus was rude to me, and I told my sis he was a big asshole, but man, could he sing.

And this one reminds me of family picnics, when they would start to wind down a little my dad would pull out the guitar, and my Uncle Frankie would pull up a chair with him and they would start the music.

Now, you don’t have to tell me much, just any little tidbit you choose. I’ll be posting more of my memories down in the comments, won’t you join me?

This one reminds me of when me and my dad would drive around almost all day doing errands and he’d just play any song. (it was especially fun when one of his songs would come on)

  2. here’s the thing–you had to go to the john to smoke a joint. Yeah! They had ushers roaming the aisles like the cheese, wtf?

This song is sweet and meaningful, and, for some reason, reminds me of really sweet candy.

This song reminds me of dancing in my living room with my mother, and it was one of the first songs that I ever loved.

This song reminds me so much of love (which it is probably supposed to do), and I absolutely love his voice on this song.

  3. ratted me out for. You can clearly hear us all singing this song and carrying on.

  4. while I was at the Boston University School of Journalism.

I instantly knew that disco was dead.

    reminds me of everything LGBTQ+.

  6. she’d be oh, so careful with it, only to have it come back with her exclaiming how juicy her steak was right in the middle of this song. I know you’re up there laughing at me, Connie, because, yes, I did mean eternity.

  7. I was shocked he didn’t know it was a remake~

This song reminds me of karaoke with my mother, and how much her voice sounded like Cyndi Lauper’s.

  8. Yes music plays, and Andy shows us all his slide show of the Yes concert and we can all see the teeny tiny Yes band members, yay.

This song reminds me of trying too hard and lying at the same time.

  9. at nine o’clock the station changed to country music, and a whoop went up across the factory whenever this song came on. Why? Why the hell not!

This song reminds me of my mother because, again, she can actually still sing this song.

Again, apologies for all of the Sia, but I believe she is absolutely wonderful.

This song reminds me of utter insanity or mental institutions.

I don’t really like this song, but it does remind me of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and really disgusting clothing…
