These people may have the right to free speech but only money talks.

  1. First of all I want to thank you for your warm reception.  Today will be a little long on introduction in lieu of content (slow, what can I say?).  In the future I’ll attempt to take the time to write briefly.

Most of you are already familiar with DocuDharma.  In November last year buhdydharma decided he no longer wished to continue with the site and allowed TheMomCat to assume ownership.  I am the Managing Editor.  As one of the founding members I can assure you nothing has changed.  Poetry, Fiction, and other Arts are encouraged.  It is not dK, it is non-partisan and Conspiracy Theories are explicitly allowed.

The Stars Hollow Gazette, which is also owned by TheMomCat and managed by me, is more news and opinion oriented, though we also do sports live blogging, food, health, and fitness.

As you may know I’m a great believer in fresh content as a driver of traffic and activity, and scheduling to ensure multiple daily visits and avoid conflict over Front Page exposure.  Currently The Stars Hollow Gazette features about 5 stories a day at 8 and 10 am, and at noon, 2, and 4 pm with frequent bonus articles.  DocuDharma has about 9 essays at 3, 6, 9, 10, and 11 am, and noon, 2, 4, and 6 pm.

Of course with additional input I could run them much hotter.

We are open to cross posts and re-posts, pretty much anything goes though not everything gets highlighted.  No I/P allowed at all.  No Meta you couldn’t post here.  You must be prepared to take your lumps- since all suspensions are administrative, arguments on the merits are allowed.  Currently Sitemeter pegs us at about 1250 and 3300 unique visits a week which is not so bad for smaller sites especially at holiday time.  We Google and Twitter above our weight.

If I’ve made it insufficiently transparent so far, let me explicitly state that these digests are intended to drive traffic and activity.  If you have a site and wish to post digests on ours it will be treated like any other content, though we would expect the courtesy to return the favor.  If you have low activity it would be my advice to make our regular contributions part of a daily framework to encourage traffic and activity of your own against which you could feature your more muse driven and unique contributions.

    Nobody visits dead blogs.

Now for what you can usually expect-

A little heavy on cross posting, but did I mention slooow?

    Oh.  Yeah.

That was yesterday and today is today.  I approach it with no preconceptions except to fill the page.  If you crave attention I set the general outlines between 6 and 9 am so you should post before that.  There’s lots of afternoon emptyness for breaking and an unlimited amount of room on the right under recent for your personal rants and recreation.

TheMomCat urgently urges me to remind you that the best promotion for your ideas and positions is self promotion through tweets and diggs and reddits et cetera and cross posting.  I personally think that the best way to develop a meme is to emphasize through repetition.  The wider you spread your net the more fish you will catch and I’d like to teach you how to fish.
